‘Time Space’ Starts at Planetarium March 27

COMMERCE, Texas — The Texas A&M University-Commerce Planetarium’s newest show, “Time Space,” will open on Friday, March 27.

Planetarium shows are presented every Friday night at 7 and 8 p.m.

“Time Space” is an exciting exploration of the past, present, and future.

The adventure starts at the beginning of time and the universe and then travels to wandering with the dinosaurs. From there, it fasts forward to watching Venus with Mayan astronomers, continues on to walking with astronauts on the moon, and then jumps to a possible outpost a thousand years in the future.

“With the greatly differing scenes and outstanding graphics, ‘Time Space’ is entertaining and educational for the whole family,” says Dr. Kent Montgomery, planetarium director.

Admission to the Friday night shows is $3 for those under 18 and A&M-Commerce students with ID, $3.50 for university employees and senior citizens, and $4 for all others.

Each planetarium show begins with brief remarks by a member of the planetarium staff, who displays the Commerce night sky on the planetarium’s 40-foot dome and points out the current visible constellations, stars, and planets.

The audience sees the shows using the planetarium’s state-of-the-art Digistar 3, an all digital projection system. Viewers enjoy immersive theater viewing with tilted seats and 10-speaker surround sound during the shows, which last about an hour.

Reservations are urged and can be made by calling 903-468-8650. “Time Space” will run on Fridays through May 22.
