A&M-Commerce Professor Recieves Award at TACHE Conference

Dr. Maria Hinojosa, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Texas A&M University-Commerce, recieved an award at the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Conference on January 29.

Dr. Hinojosa was awarded the TACHE Distinguished University Faculty Award for her efforts in retaining Hispanic students in college. The theme of this year’s 38th annual TACHE Conference was “Chicano, Now More Than Ever!” It was held from January 27-30 at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin, Texas.

“The award recognizes superior levels of professionalism and accomplishment in the areas of teaching, research or service,” said Maria C. Agurre-Acuna, TACHE Awards Chair.

TACHE is an organization committed to the enhancement of educational and employment opportunities for Hispanics in higher education. They strive to promote and further the Chicano/Latino culture and population through higher education.

“I am so honored to receive my first state award from the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education,” said Dr. Hinojosa. “I am also proud to represent A&M-Commerce, a university that is committed to the impovement of educational and employment opportunities for Hispanics in higher education.”
