Texas A&M University-Commerce has registered with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) to provide a new financial planning  minor.

An independent certifying organization, CFP Board owns the CFP® and Certified Financial PlannerTM certification marks, which it awards to individuals who meet its education, examination, experience, ethics and other requirements.  Students completing the financial planning program at A&M-Commerce will have met the Education requirement for CFP® Certification Examination administered by CFP Board.

“CFP Board is pleased to approve the program at Texas A&M University-Commerce as a CFP Board Registered Program,” said Mike R. Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance and Director of the CFP® registered minor, Dr. Jared Pickens believes that this new program will bring finance students more opportunities and that A&M-Commerce is perfectly positioned for a successful program.

“When you look at Texas A&M University-Commerce, what you see is a tradition of excellence in academia,” said Dr. Pickens. “When academic excellence is combined with a campus in downtown Dallas—its strong online presence and diverse student body—a successful program is easily within reach.”
