Luis Franco, director of the Hispanic Outreach program, has been awarded the 2015 Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) Distinguished University Staff award. The award will be presented at the 40th annual TACHE Conference in El Paso, Texas on February 11-14. Franco will be making history by being the first ever recipient of this award.

“When given the opportunity to nominate Franco for this award I did not hesitate,” said Dina Sosa, dean of enrollment management and retention. “He is very deserving of this award and with this recognition the university is represented well.”

This award recognizes superior levels of professionalism and accomplishment in the areas of initiative, productivity, critical thinking, effectiveness and customer service skills. Winners of this award also receive $1,000 and an opportunity to submit a conference proposal for the next TACHE conference in 2016.
