A&M-Commerce Mourns the Tragic Loss of Dr. Yoon Duk “Debbie” Kim

It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of Dr. Yoon Duk “Debbie” Kim, an assistant professor of construction engineering in the College of Science and Engineering. Dr. Kim was originally from Seoul, South Korea, and received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from Georgia Tech. In addition to teaching at A&M-Commerce, Kim was the academic advisor for construction engineering majors and the faculty advisor for the Student Construction Association. The Dean of the College of Science and Engineering, Dr. Brent Donham, today called Dr. Kim “one of our stars.”

University President Dr. Ray Keck shared the terrible news today stating, “This tragedy knocks us to our knees.” Dr. Keck reminded the campus community to “watch out for one another in this incomprehensible, dark time.”  He added,  “We gratefully remember Dr. Kim’s extraordinarily warm presence, her scholarship, and her stellar teaching.”
